blog 5!!

For this blog i read from page 188-230. The most important events in this section is that Gid, molly, and liam keep working hard on there project and liam is chosen to be the dog. So get gets to kiss molly and it went very well and romantic. this made gid thinks if she likes him. Also gids dad comes and brings danielle, his ex girlfriend, she beats him up and gets very mad.
"...and then you could just leave, and never talk to me again, and that would be fine?" (danielle) this quote is significant because thus far in the story we have not met danielle, all we hear is that gid is thinking he should call her but he never does. He goes his whole time in midvale without calling his gf (well his ex now). She is mad about this, this shows she has great courage to stand up to him, and when molly comes into this, it doesnt put a good era on gid. This is going to change how the rest of the story turns out thus far just from this moment of how mad danielle is at gideon.

blog 4!!

i read from 150-188 for this blog post. At the beginning nicolas, cullen, and gid are stuck in the house because they smoke weed and they need to go find molly because they need to tell her to hid the weed scent or else the dog is going to smell it. Molly writes him a note to say thank you and pilar writes him a note too, cullen thinks they both like him.
If i was going to write a note to gid it would go like this:
Dear gid,
How does it feel that cullen thinks that both girls like you?
are you going to stick with pilar or try to win the bet with molly?
as a girl advice i would say go with the girl you really like because that will get you further and less out of trouble. Thats what you need at this moment. Well have fun with both, i will keep reading.

Blog 3!

For this reading i read from page 110-149. What happened in this chapter is they went to a party and took vicodin and almost slept with pilar. He found out afterwards that it was a scame, that nicolas was trying to trick him to see if he would do it. but cullen new he would stay strong to win the bet or the car.
"I know that even with nicholas pulling his little vicodin trick on you, youd stay cool" (142). This quote was a surprise to gid, he didnt know that it was a trick he just thought he was being friendly and trying to get him high. But when he found this out, he realized that nicholas had something up his sleeve. This relates to character development in big ways. Before in the story Gid did not think that nicholas would do something like this just so he could keep the car. He thought he would play far. It now shows that nicholas is sneaky because he thought that if he gave gid the vicodin he would sleep with pilar because he would be so caught up in himself and forget about everhything else and so he would end up breakin the rule and losing the bet. So that is why nicholas is very sneaky and clever also.

blog 2!

I read pages from 50-110. So far in this story gideon meets pilar, she is a student from midvale academy also. She is rich and very beautiful. Gid instantly falls in love with her. When pilar gets drunk and passes out in the boys bathroom with gid, he takes her in and sleeps with her the night. Also what happens is Gid, cullen, and nicolas snuck over to madisons house,its then when we meet madison, mija, and erica.
"we need to talk about who molly is, and what shes into.when you know what chicks dig, its a lot easier to get them to like you." (104). In this chaper gid talks to molly mcgarry and becomes closer to actually being her friend. But before he can do this he needs to determine who she is, and cullen helps him do this. He determines who she is by what she eats and who she hangs out with. This quote makes me think about guys today...i mean are guys looking at what girls eat and who they hang out with to see who they are without saying anything to them? So if a girl was by herself and was eating a peanut butter sandwich would guys think she likes to be on her own and stil has 3rd grade lunches? so shes a loner and still yerns to be young? Its weird to think what can come up in ones mind....

I am reading the book inside the mind of Gideon Rayburn. I am around page 50 in it so far and i like it a lot! So far it is about a mystery character who is inside Gideon Rayburns head, so she can see and hear what Gid is thinking. Gid goes to a new school and one of the bets going on there is that Gid wont get laid by June. This book so far made me think of my own life because, not that people are making bets about getting laid. But it does seem like as time goes on that more of the younger people are starting to have sex. In this book they are juniors and most of them are having sex, just like us. Im not saying everyone in Edina Highschool are having sex, im just saying that some are or will soon. This made me realize that people want to get intercourse going quicker as time goes on. Im sure that 20 years ago not as many juniors as now had sex. The also made me think of my own life because Gid is the kind of guy who isnt real popular but tries to fit in. All my life i havent been the most popular but i have tried to fit in and not be an outcast. I mean i think thats what everyone wants, but it just made me relate myself to gid because we both want to be well liked by everyone.

Reflection

I am reading the book Inside the mind of Gideon Rayburn by Sarah Miller. This book is about a girl who gets inside a guys mind to see what he thinks about things of what hes doing. You could tell what the guy was thinking and what he saw. This book intrested me because i always wanted to know what a guy was thinking when he was talking to you or about to mess with other guys etc. I think any girl wonders what their thinking because guys in general are so complex. They confuse a normal person. I also choose this book because you never find out who is inside the mind. She is the narrator, but she doesnt say her name until the end. So this caused a sort of mystery feel on the book so that is another reason i chose it, i thought it would keep me occupied. I cant wait to read more!! :)

In the book eclipse they had a war between the newcomers and the vampires and werewolves. The vampires and werewolves were of course going to win but they did not no that victoria, a vampire wanting to kill bella would be there. She was there and edward was the only one to defend her. He was not supposed to win, she is much stronger then he is, it showed bella how much he cared for her. Edward over came odds and defeated bellas number one enemy. This is great it showed his family members a whole lot...

In the book Eclipse bella is deeply in love with a vampire edward. she has been trying to become a vampire to be one of them for a while.He finally agrees if she agrees to marry him. She denys at first but then after she really thinks about it she agrees to because she loves him that much, a whole lot. Another situation with love is when Jacob black tells bella that he is in love with her. She doesnt no what to say since they are best friends and she loves edward. Jacob and edward do not get along. Bella doesnt want to lose a friend but she doesnt want to loose the love of her life either....

I got this from my world history text book. In the early times the spanish and portugal tried to make a commitment where they dont have to start war. they succeded and they made the treaty where half the ocean is spains and half the ocean is portugal. This caused some problems because other countrys wanted land as well. So over all this just started more conflict.

I got this article form the New york times. I read an article about how immigrants are trying to come to the united states for work. They are trying to have a better life, with more work and money. So as you go around food places then you see there are way more mexicans then white. Sounds racist, im not trying to be. honest. haha. but the economy is bad so its hard for them to get a job. But they wanted a better life then what they were in.

A global issue in the us happening the economy is going bad. People through out the world is loosing money, and jobs. I learned this from the star tribune. For example people in my moms and dads work are getting fired because it is so bad. Its a very bad time for people looking for jobs to start looking. Its also bad for people who are trying to buy or sell houses the market is horrible now. Its not going to good. Hopefully we dont hit a recession!

Blog 10!!

I read a text about Jewish religion because i find it interesting because i am half jewish. In the jewish religion Hannakah. It deals with the maccabes and how they got attacked and how they had one candle that they thought was only going to burn for one day but it ended up burning for nine days. So to represent that they have the candles. They have four on one side and four on the other and a large on in the middle. Unlike the christian verision or christmas when the kids get presents on one day, christmas day. Jewish kids get 9 presents, one for every day the candle burns. When one of the days comes you light one of the candles and then you save the biggest one for the biggest present. I liked reading about this because i got to learn about my backround even though i do not celebrate the Jewish holidays.

I did not find any text on bollywood so im using the movie that we watched in class... sorry...
In the movie bride and prejudice it showed me how bollywood is much more dramatic. By the situations that occur the people over stress about it much more... Also they have a lot more color to it. In normal movies there is color but in bollywood it seems they have more brighter colors to perk up the mood maybe?? Also they do dances to express there love for there culture, which is awesome to so others. I personally like the bollywood movie because it was exciting to see something different and new. :)

I read an article about how different Christian Culture is different From the Jewish Culture. In Christian culture a common food that they eat is bread and drink wine for the spirit of jesus. But outside of church the can eat whatever they likethere is no restriction on what they can and cannot eat. Most clothes are what they perfer, obiously no swearing, or dirty words or onthe clothing and it must not be to short or skimpy. There religion is to respect god and others around them. "Do on to others as you do on yourself" or the golden rule. Another constant phrase which is said at the end of church services is "Go in peace and serve the world thanks be to god". Different versions are said throughout bu there is something like that. In the Jewish culture they are different by having food restrictions. If you are very orthodox it is said you may not eat any kind of pork, shell fish, and you cannot eat any dairy and meat together. Also in the orthodox jewish "payas" are grown by the men. Which is hair behind the ears. Along with that on the sabbath a jewish orthodox person cannot do ano kind of work such as carry anything or turn on a light switch. In the christian religon they have christmas but the jews have hannakah which is based on the maccabes.

In the book Eclipse there is change that occurs throughout the book. In earlier times vampires and warewolves would never interact with eachother. They never crossed paths, they even had a boundary line. In other words they were greatest enemies. who would ever think bella could change all that...
When the vampires thought that the newcomers were coming to attack them, they needed back up or help. So they called on the warewolves to help. They would not do this if they were not it great need. So they both formed a pack to help and so the vampires and the wolves worked together. That is great change which has never been done before. Another change which occurs through all of the books in the twilight series is how edward is in love with bella. In the vampires before none of them started to like a human...
This is a big change that came throughout the series...

In the book eclipse there is hope shown throughout. When they think that the new vampires are starting a fight they form a group to fight them back. Bella asks Edward to not fight because she doesnt want him to get hurt. So she hopes that none of the vampires will not get hurt. When she is in the tent she is constantly hoping that jacob or any of the vampires or warewolves did not get hurt. When edward is fighting with victoria in the fight bella is hoping to live. To hope is to anticipate. Bella has much hope throughout the novel and this is well show by many tough scenarios. Lastly she hopes that she can become a vampire like edward. She doesnt want to leave him and getting married can lead to that she can live forever... will she do it?

Blog 5!

In the Twilight series a main belief is that the cullen family will fall in love with another vampire and some vampires suck humans blood. It is not common for a vampire to go for a human. But Edward doesnt care he goes for bella and goes beyond his beliefs. In the beginning it was hard for him he wanted so hard to just go beyond his beliefs of not sucking human blood and suck hers but he did not. He held back. He loved her. From then on they spent more time together and then began dating. So even though he did go from one of his beliefs he went beyond the other one of not dating a human. His family was schocked at the beginning but soon loosened up. So it will show that true love can make a human/vampire go beyond there beliefs and it can end up for the best.

Blog 4!

In the book twilight both genders are represented. The cullen family has both girls and guys and they are all treated equally. The cullen family is an equally distributed vampire family. Unlike some cultures the girls are treated as well as the guys. Except there is one thing the guys in the family are known to hunt. They do the hunting for the family well the girls stay back and look after the house. That is the only thing that has gender roles. In the human world girls are treated some what differently. Like today girls do not apply to be president except for Hilary Clinton but still no one really does it. Some girls are not police and fire fighters because they are known as "butch" but to this day it has gotten way better. More and more girls are having those occupations. So to this day we are having much better gender roles then india.

Blog 3!

In Twilight series edward is a vampire so basically he has a different culture then me. In my culture is to go to church and respect god. In edwards culture it is not to eat except human and animal blood. They dont talk to outside humans they dont socialize. Except for edward, he is an exception. He goes beyond his culture and does what nobody has done before. He goes for Bella. He spends his time seeing/dating her. A human. A totally different "culture" from edward all together. At first Edwards siblings were not happy about him going beyond there beliefs but he didnt care he went for it anyway. And soon enough they all liked Bella as if she was one of them. So even though edward went beyond his beliefs it turned out for the best in the end. I believe that sometimes if you turn your back on your culture if you strongly believe something its okay because it can turn out for the best. For an example in the book "nectar in a sieve" Ruku goes beyond her culture when she knows how to read and write and she teaches her kids how to read and write which is not what most indians do but it turns out for the best in the end because her kids get good jobs and are educated.

Facing a difficulty,
In the book Eclipse the main character Bella faces many diffuculties in this book such as when she is talking to edward she asks him to get out of the fight be because she is afraid it may kill him so she asks him stay to stay out of it. He is not so sure about it, he has to fight with the warewolfs and he needs to but he doesnt because bella is going to be to worried about him. Bella also faces diffuculties because she realizes that Victoria is still after her , she is not dead. They are going after her to kill her. She faces many diffuculties in all books, thats what keeps them so intense. I love it!!

Natural Disaster,
In the book twilight she moved to the town of forks when she realized it rains a lot. She moved from arizona which it did not rain at all there. In the town of Forks it rains a lot during the week. This could be bad for the town because it may flood it. Im currently done with the book and am on eclipse. Another example of a natural disaster is when there is a thunder storm in Forks, thats when the vampires play baseball. They play it then because it will sound it out by the lightning. That is when Bella meets james and the whole problem begins...
In forks the natural disasters there are a lot of rain and some thunder storms but thats about it.

For this blog post i read an article about obamas kids going to school on startribune.com
Well trying to go privately to school obamas two kids (Malia and Sasha) got bombarded with paparazzi. Even though they can prevent the photographers, they can not prevent the paparazzi. Such as a kid with a cell phone or facebook. As being the worlds famous kids and the family have blogs critiquing what they wear or a bad hair day.
"Mean things about them online are going to be problematic, they're going to have to develop a thicker skin in the way all celebrities do" quoted Carolyn Jabs of Growing up online. Because facebook and myspace are some of the major paparazzi facebook requires users to be 13 and myspace requires users to be 14. Everyone else handled it throughout the years of publicity. So do the Obama family have it in them? How sasha and malia handle the media attention will depend on their parents.

I read a chapter from eclipse! In this chapter jacob and edward set an alliance up. They were going to fight the newcomers to keep the volturi away. After many attempts they finally agreed they were both going to train by jasper to get ready for this exciting event. They train by jasper since he used to fight as newcomer. As bella gets worried about edward and jacob. They mean the world to her and they dont want her to get hurt. So bella asks edward to ask jasper to take him out of the fight because bella doesnt want edward to get hurt..
How is that going to go?
